Prince Tor of Remeny never wanted to take part in the quest to claim the throne after his father’s death and now he has no choice but to continue. What started off as an adventure, a chance to make new friends and catch-up with old acquaintances, has turned into a deadly nightmare.

The latest clue requires them to seek "a guide from another world". Finding the person is the easy part; persuading them to risk their life for a group of strangers will be a bigger challenge. And what will Tor do if the ‘guide’ refuses to help?
This is not the usual type of fantasy novel where Good versus Evil and it all ends in a big battle. It is the journey that is important, not the final destination. As you get to know the characters, and they get to know each other, you will grow to love or hate them and will find yourself eager to know what happens next.

Tor’s Quest #1, The Guide, is an engaging story, to say the least, and the only thing I can say I didn’t like about the book is I’ll have to wait until the next book to find out what happens!

It's a good read.
Great characters and I can't wait to see what happens next. It's a good mystery that makes you root for the good guys.
The story starts out in our world, and involves a girl named Sam. She is transported to Tor's world when she is summoned as part of a quest Tor is on. Tor, one of many sons of a dead King, is on a quest for the throne. Along the way he has amassed a group of people who all have and had clues to the next step in the quest.
The characters grow on you, and develop as the story goes on. Nice surprise about the world Tor is living in and Sam's world are revealed in the telling of this novel. Many quandaries arise for the group to work thru. Plot is nice for a throne quest novel. Good humor and decent adversity are thrown in the way of Tor and Sam
Nice story, as there is not a lot of violence, but that does not distract from the story itself. This story is more about thoughts and thinking tan it is about sword and magic fighting...
The Guide is a fun read with lots of characters and an intriguing plot. i was little lost at the beginning but quickly discovred Tor's world and got hooked. Very interesting read ;)
I really enjoyed this book. There are a lot of characters to learn about at first but, as I got further into the plot and their personalities were revealed more, I got to know them all and became really invested in what happens to them. I particularly loved reading about the dynamics between the characters and the relationships that develop. Trudie Collins has created an intruiging fantasy world and the plot is imaginative and moves along at a nice pace. I also really enjoyed the humour and the fact that there's not too much violence. Definitely five stars, and I'm looking forward to the other books in the series.
This is a great read. It's filled with adventure and gets you hooked pretty quickly. I enjoy a good fantasy read and I have to say this book is good. There are a good amount of characters to get to learn and know about, but the author is good at making sure you get a glimpse at all of them.The author does a good job of describing the world which is very important in fantasy books. Overall I enjoyed this book and am excited to see what happens next.
I like videogames, and this reminded me of one in a good way. You have a group of characters, each with their unique quirks, grouping to complete a quest. Some tasks can only be performed by a small number of characters, although they move as a group. The interesting thing is that their progress doesn't follow a straight line, there are episodes that are unrelated to the main plot but are scattered in to provide details on the world, or the characters. The novel is a breezy read, but be prepared to be left wanting for more after this first book of the series.
